This was my first hard shell jacket, so I have not had much to compare with.
My experience with this jacket is that it is not very durable - a hole was teared on the elbow after half a year or so, and I didn't use it very often. Moreover, the breathability was fine two weeks after washing and proofing, but after that it was minimal. 1 1/2 year after I bought it from new, I bought another jacket. It was not entirely waterproof anymore, and the fit was not very good.
It was fine the first year though, it has all the needed features; very good, large pockets, pit zippers, adjustable hood, and fine chin protection. And the price was fair - I don't remember how much I paid, but it was definitely not expensive.
