I reacted quite a bit to the jacket when I got it. It is usually the elastics, so I removed those, and then did a gentle wash. Thinking it would then get out.
But no, the moment I actually wore it and went for a ride, I started coughing within a minute or so, and after having ridden about 2 km, I had to stop due to coughing. THe moment I took it off, I started puking - literally!. I had to ride home in the rain in a thin shirt and freezing temperatures.
I have since washed and washed it, but it won't come out. It's that toothpaste (not the mint, the fluoride) smell, and it is pungent.
It's ridiculous that they try to pretend they're environmentally friendly by shipping it in a corn starch bag, yet fill the garment with fluorocarbons to make it waterproof. What a waste of money (it's the most expensive rain jacket I ever bought).
